About the Project

I am designing a fusion between social media and an e-commerce app focused on the beauty industry. The goal is for the user can be socializing and shop at the same time through the app.

Development

♦️ Background

Karkoon is a beauty and lifestyle-focused new startup based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Its main purpose is to take the experience of shopping and socializing to a whole new level. The company was inspired by Mark Zuckerberg's comment on how big "social commerce" would be in the next few years. With that in mind, Karkoon's primary goal is to create a new experience in shopping and socializing by fusing social media and e-commerce into one platform.

🪢 Limitations

Since the company is still grasping the concept and the idea of social commerce ideally and how to implement it in the app, we have been revamping the interface design and the whole concept a bunch of times over the past year. My limitations come from how the design kept changing, and I had to redo all of the design from zero. As the design changed, the codes for development also changed; thus, the release date kept getting pushed.

As the app has not been launched yet, the app's content is still confidential. Hence the photo above is the only thing I can show.

Takeaways

After working for a year, my takeaways from this are;

• Plan and grasp the concept better. As the new player in the industry, planning is the number one thing we have to do right. When we first started the project, the plan and the concept of what we were going to do were still scattered. We are barely grasping the app's whole idea, and the planning is kind of off. After we executed the plan and defined the exact thing that we would do, everything went better.
